Drying flowers is one of the easiest ways to preserve their natural beauty. With just a little patience, you can create long-lasting decorations for your home, including beautiful dried flower wreaths.
To dry flowers successfully, all you need is a cool, dry room away from direct sunlight. There are several ways to dry flowers. You can lay them on newspaper, although this method may leave one side of the flowers slightly flattened. To help the flowers keep their natural shape, it is better to tie them into small bunches and hang them upside down.
When tying the stems together, I recommend using a rubber band rather than string. As flowers dry, the stems shrink, and a rubber band naturally tightens around them, keeping the bunch secure throughout the drying process.
For this dried flower wreath, I chose a colourful mix of dried flowers and greenery. As I didn’t have enough material to cover the entire wreath, I created a half wreath instead. This is a wonderful option if you’re working with a smaller amount of flowers or simply prefer a more modern, minimalist design. A wreath doesn’t have to be completely covered to make a beautiful statement.
Start by attaching the floral wire securely to the metal hoop, wrapping it around the frame several times.
Next, begin making small bouquets from your dried flowers. Attach the first bouquet to the hoop and continue adding each new bouquet so that it slightly overlaps the previous one. Keep working in the same direction all the way around your chosen section of the hoop. This layering technique creates a neat, full-looking arrangement while hiding the stems and wire.
For the final bouquet, attach it facing the opposite direction. This simple finishing touch creates a clean, natural-looking end and gives the half wreath a balanced appearance.
